Delivery Truck Driver Meets Birth Mother at Work
A 22-year old delivery truck driver, Steve Flaig, who was given up for adoption at birth in 1985, began the search for his birth mother, unaware of how close she really was.
He found his birth mother’s name, Christine Tallady, through an open adoption record. Typing in her name on the internet, he found her home address was just a full blocks away from the Lowe’s store where he worked. After telling his boss the name of his birth mother, Flaig was stunned to learn that it was the name of the head cashier at Lowe’s. It took almost two months for Flaig to get the courage to talk to her, supplied with this new information about their relation.
On the second week in December 2007, they met as mother and son for the first time. Tallady says that she hoped her son would find her, and often thought of him over the years, particularly on his birthday.
Talladay said, “I have a complete family now, all my kids. It’s a perfect time of year. It’s the best Christmas present ever.”
